Meet the CoCo Team 

Isamar Cortés in the iconic "Observatorio de Arecibo" at Arecibo, Puerto Rico

Isamar Cortés, M.Sc., she/her

Program Co-Director & Coding Coordinator

Isamar is a Puerto Rican born and raised in New Jersey, US. She is a Geomorphologist and a Ph.D. Candidate at Montclair University, New Jersey, US, where she explores the role of climate on mangroves in the Caribbean using remote sensing and numerical modeling. 

CoCo SciComm Team interviewed one of the CoCo co-creators and GeoLatinas Coding Group co-founder, Isamar Cortés, to get insight into her motivation and purpose for working at CoCo. 

Q: What do you enjoy most about working with the team?

A: I enjoy the collaborative efforts on multiple fronts to make this program as best as possible.

Q: What made you decide to be involved in a program like CoCo?

A: I wanted to get involved to continue creating course content accessible to a Spanish-speaking audience. 

Q: What kind of activities do you enjoy doing outside work? 

A: I enjoy reading horror novels and watching movies.
