Meet the Coding Trainers

Sergio N. Villamarín, CoCo Coding Trainer

Sergio Nicolás Villamarín Gómez,  he/him

Coding Coach

Sergio is a Ph.D. student at Tulane University, New Orleans, US, in the Earth and Environmental Sciences Department. He explores statistical approaches for hydrological data.

CoCo SciComm Team interviewed Sergio's, one of our Coding Trainers, to get insight into her motivation and purpose for teaching at CoCo.

Q: What are some of the things you expect to learn from CoCo?

A: I love teaching, I'll like to pile up more experience teaching coding related material.

Q: What made you decide to be involved in a bilingual program such as CoCo?

A: I love the concept of the program, I've seen people struggle a lot with code when entering a graduate program, and I like the idea of helping (and getting paid in the process).

Q: What kind of activities do you enjoy doing outside work?

A: I like learning about design in general, I also play video games (and learn to design them as well). I'm a decent cook, and I enjoy trying new food as well.

We admire Sergio's passion for teaching coding skills to students in need. You can follow Sergio's updates on his Twitter page.

Lastly, take a look at Sergio's feature on CoCo's Twitter and Instagram accounts.
